The Perfect Kindergarten Reading Curriculum, and Why It’s So Amazing

We are getting straight down to business with this one. It’s August and you are a teacher preparing for the school year and time is of the essence. You do not have time to go searching for the perfect reading curriculum by diving into blog post after blog post. So here it is. Easy peasy.

The Perfect Kindergarten Reading Curriculum, and Why It’s So Amazing

Here is a very brief rundown:

First off, this is a growing bundle that will eventually include 7 units. The first two are finished and available to you, and you’ll have access to the last five just as soon as I complete them.

You will find about 1 month’s worth of scripted lesson plans within each unit. Each lesson plan is about 20 minutes long, including time for independent reading. Making this curriculum perfect to use as supplemental material OR as your full reading curriculum depending on what is best for your schedule and district. Remember, you know your classroom best and these lessons are built to be flexible!

Each daily lesson will give you the following:

  • Teaching Point
  • Materials Needed (with screenshots of  worksheets and anchor charts)
  • Mini Lesson (scripted)
  • Activity
  • Share Time

You will also find all anchor charts and worksheets needed, example mentor texts, binder covers, helpful tips and tricks (like how to set up your classroom library), and so much more. You can see a full breakdown of everything included here

Reason Number 1 You Need This: It’s Developmentally Appropriate (for real!)

These lessons are simple, easy to use, and most importantly developmentally appropriate!!!

Kindergarten students learn best in short chunks of time, I won’t be asking your students to sit and listen for more than 10 minutes at a time. And I’ll always follow that up with an engaging activity or independent reading time as they build their skills.

Reason Number 2 You Need This: Kids Learn Best with Explicit Instruction!

I won’t ever tell you to “tell your students to go off and read”. There is explicit instruction and modeling embedded throughout the units that will help your students build independent reading skills.

The lessons and units build on each other to ensure that your students are gaining the skills they need to be successful throughout the entire school year. These print-and-go lessons give you all the tools you need to do this!!

Reason Number 3 You Need This: BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!

Let’s face it, we are teachers and we are all on a budget. When you purchase the Reading Curriculum Bundle now you will get and pay for units 1 and 2… but then, when all five other units become available you will have them for FREE!!

All you have to do is jump back on TpT and re-download. This bundle will NEVER be at this price again!!

Okay, I told you I would keep it short and sweet and I believe I have. If you read that and want the PERFECT Writing Curriculum to pair it with, check out this bundle and this blog on how well the two go together!

If you are looking for other supplemental activities, or full units you can find all my resources here!!
