This is a Sentence Writing Unit for kindergarten or first grade students. Students will explicitly learn and practice how to write a complete sentence. By the end of the unit, your kindergarten or first grade students should be able to write a sentence independently.
This unit sets kindergarten students up for success for writers workshop for the year. Students are given intensive instruction focusing solely on how to write a sentence. Often, we rush into the writing process which causes student frustration. This unit works on the skill slowly and creates a positive writing environment for all learners.

Students will focus on specific parts of a sentence each day:
- sentence stems and labels
- unscrambling sentences
- capital letters
- finger spaces
- punctuation (each type per day)
- naming and telling parts of a sentence
- picture prompts
- repairing sentences
- independently writing their own sentence!

This resource gives them even more repetition and confidence if they need it.
